Utilities

The tough environmental conditions found across the utilities sector present particular material performance challenges with regard to chemical and corrosion resistance as well as the dangers associated with electrical conductivity and fire.

The flexibility of composite solutions enables them to be matched to the performance requirements dictated by the environment, making them a safe, durable and cost effective option.

Waste water

As vast infrastructure upgrades are carried out across the UK’s waste water treatment system, Construction Composites is involved in many projects including:

— Upgrading of odour control ductwork to ensure strength and UV stability

— Supply and installation of composite non-slip flooring, both grid and solid surface, and handrail systems

— Refurbishment of a Victorian pumping station outfall, built in the 1870s.

Access hatches

As water supply companies update and upgrade their fresh water infrastructure, there is a greater need for access hatches of varied dimensions. Construction Composites is able to manufacture bespoke hatches of any size, with a wide range of accessories including locks, rams, various colours and anti-slip finishes.

One benefit of composite hatches is that traditional hatches are a target for scrap metal thieves. Our production facilities have helped companies rapidly replace stolen hatches with strong, non-metallic alternatives within a short timescale. Our clients appreciate the flexibility of bespoke hatches for refurbishment work, whilst also having the option of standardised sizes for new installations. One additional benefit is our ability to finish the hatches in the water company’s corporate colours.

Tanks

The team at Construction Composites can manufacture bespoke tanks with a range of fittings. We install baffles and weir plates internally for waste water treatment and include manways in the lids, pipe fitting flanges and other fixings as required.

Our site team has been involved in reinforcing and relining tanks in areas where a replacement would be difficult. They have installed side-access manways on tanks that need additional facilities for egress.

We are able to supply WRAS approved tanks for potable water usage in a standard range of sizes, along with a selection of suitable fittings.
